Chapter 7 on Communication
What is communication to you?
Try to use the texting screen below as provided by Wiffiti. In order to respond, use your cell phone and send a text message to 87884 as the receipient. Start your text message with the following: @wif54549 and then your response. Example: "@wif54549 there needs to be a message between at least two groups" and then send the text to 87884
A video sharing site that you can use with your Smart Phone. Click on "Sign Up" to create an account, or you can sign in with your Facebook/Twitter account for instant access.
In order to get Qik on your phone, go to this website with your phone: http://d.qik.com into your mobile browser. Or you can go to the Qik download page and get a text message sent to your phone. If you know the exact model of your phone, you can find it on this page as well.
DIRECTIONS FOR QIK USERS:
Create a group of at least 4 participants
Come up with an original skit (bonus points for leaving the classroom and being MOBILE with your mobile tool) that involves 4 characters
1) A student who just won a presitigous award
2) The teacher
3) The media specialist
4) The web master
Together, you must create a video that utilize a communication plan that can do the following:
A) Who needs to be notified about this award and how will you communicate it?
B) What is the key message that you want the audience to know and why should it be important to them
C) What action should the audience take after they receive this information?
D) What is the last thing your audience will remember and take away with them?
Your video can either be an example of what you would like to communicate about the student, or perhaps the four characters brainstorming on how they could come up with this communication plan.
Once you are finished, upload to the Qik site. Or go a step further and try to post it into your own blog or web site.
BUT WHAT IF MY PHONE ISN'T LISTED ON THE QIK SITE?
Hip Cast
Try out Hipcast, you can use the computer or your phone to Blog with. All posts will automatically appear on my Blogger account. If you go to the Blogger page, you can listen to my audio instructions and respond to it with your voice. "There are a variety of ways that we receive information each day. Which one do you receive the most information from and which one do you feel could be the most comfortable communicating with?" OR you can do the video recording with your phone by viewing the directions on the video.
"What types of communication will you use to share your information?"
